The title is taken from one of my favourite 17thC homoerotic poems, by Katherine Philips: 'To my Excellent Lucasia, on our Friendship'.

When I read Wolf Hall, the historical inaccuracy that I was able to spot due to my particular PhD research interests was an anachronistic use of the word ‘cunt’. This fact perhaps disturbed me more than than the error itself.
